Vrmac

Fort Vrmac Project is situated on Vrmac ridge that rises to 759 metres above the Adriatic Sea and towns of Kotor and Tivat and divides the inner and outer part of the Bay of Kotor. The Austro-Hungarian fort was built in 1860 to protect the the empire’s major naval base centered in the town of Kotor (known then as Cattaro). The fort overlooks the entire Bay of Kotor providing for spectacular vistas.

Along with its natural and cultural surroundings and major tourist attractions, Bay of Kotor attracted some of the most prestigious developments in the region, including Porto Montenegro (the largest super-yacht marina in the Mediterranean), One and Only Resort, Four Seasons Resort and others currently under development.

Fort Vrmac comprises a heavily reinforced stone and concrete structure situated within a ditch, defended by three caponiers, with a single entrance on the north side. The fort is not used now days, but in good structural order. Vrmac ridge unique location creates a microclimate and a natural air spa with healing qualities.
